Rasam, a spicy thin soup made out of Tomatoes, Lentils & Tamarind fruit pulp, is eaten as appetizer or a second course when served with rice & curries in traditional South Indian meals. Piquant and tangy, Rasam is considered a digestive aid in Kerala meals by many old timers.

SERVING SUGGESTIONS: Shake can well, heat 1-2 minutes in microwave and serve as a soup with crackers, cooked rice.

RASAM SADAM:
(with uncooked rice) 1/2 cup rice (long grain), 1 1/2 cup water, 1/2 cup Rasam, salt to taste - boil water, add rice & Rasam and cook until done

RASAM SADAM: (with cooked rice) 1 1/2 cup cooked rice, 1/2 cup Rasam, salt to taste - bring Rasam to boil, add cooked rice, bring back to boil . Serve hot with Kerala Curry Pappadum and condiments.
